Claire Leng

Reflexologist

Reflexology | Maternity & Postnatal Reflexology | Indian Head Massage

Claire is a fully qualified and insured Reflexologist and a member of the Association of Reflexologists. She has a particular interest in women’s health, supporting clients through pregnancy, the postnatal period, perimenopause and menopause, as well as during times of stress and change.

Warm, approachable and reassuring, Claire loves the fact that her work gives people permission to stop for a while.

“Meeting such a variety of lovely people, hearing their stories and helping them to feel better is what I enjoy most. Being part of someone’s self-care is a real privilege.”

About Claire

Claire first became interested in complementary therapies after experiencing reflexology herself during a particularly stressful period in her life.

Inspired by her own experience, she completed a Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology at the Central London College of Reflexology, qualifying in 2005 and going on to establish her own practice.

Following a career change and having her children, Claire returned to reflexology in 2022, completing refresher training with Sally Earlam.

Claire also has a background in Psychology and a longstanding interest in health and wellbeing. When she isn’t treating clients, you’ll often find her listening to a health podcast, reading a new book or trying a class herself.

Supporting women through different stages of life

Women’s health has become a particular focus of Claire’s practice.

She supports women through pregnancy, the postnatal period, perimenopause and menopause, providing a calm and supportive environment where they can take some time for themselves.

Her interest in this area is personal as well as professional.

“Women are often expected to carry on at life stages such as pregnancy, postnatally and during menopause without much support. Having first-hand experience of postnatal anxiety and now the challenges of perimenopause, I wanted to offer an empathetic and calm space where women can be supported to look after themselves.”

Claire has completed additional training in Reflexology for Menopause and Postnatal Reflexology and is currently completing an Advanced Maternity Reflexology course.

She can tailor treatments during pregnancy and the postnatal period, and new parents are welcome to bring their baby along to a postnatal appointment.

Why do people come to see Claire?

Many of Claire’s clients come because life feels particularly busy or stressful and they are looking for an opportunity to slow down and relax.

She regularly sees people experiencing stress or anxiety, as well as those navigating periods of change such as pregnancy, becoming a new parent, menopause or retirement. Some clients also choose reflexology when concerns such as poor sleep, headaches or digestive discomfort are affecting their general sense of wellbeing.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy and should not replace appropriate medical care. If you have symptoms that are persistent, worsening or causing concern, speak to your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional.

For Claire, one of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing how someone feels at the end of an appointment.

“It’s so rewarding when someone arrives stressed and leaves feeling relaxed. Building a relationship with each client and seeing how they progress is really special.”

What happens at your first reflexology appointment?

If you have never tried reflexology before, there is nothing special you need to do to prepare.

Claire will begin by chatting with you about why you have booked, any health issues or concerns and a little about your lifestyle. This gives her an opportunity to understand what you would like from your appointment and tailor the treatment to you.

For reflexology, you simply remove your shoes and socks before getting comfortable on the treatment couch. Claire uses an essential oil cream during the treatment, with relaxing music, blankets and pillows available to help you settle in.

You can chat if you would like to, or simply switch off. Some people even fall asleep.

“You don’t need to worry about your feet or whether you’ve shaved your legs! It’s completely normal to fall asleep, snore or have your stomach gurgle. I take it as a compliment because it means you’re relaxed.”

For Claire, that opportunity to be still is a big part of what makes an appointment special.

“Reflexology gives you a rare moment of stillness where someone else takes care of you.”

Indian Head Massage with Claire

Claire also offers Indian Head Massage either as a treatment on its own or as an addition to reflexology.

Despite its name, the treatment is not limited to the head. Claire uses massage techniques across the face, head, neck, shoulders and hands.

At Luck’s Yard Clinic, Indian Head Massage is carried out while you are lying comfortably on the treatment couch. There is no need to undress and oils are not required.

It can be a relaxing option for anyone who would simply like some dedicated time to switch off and unwind.

Never tried reflexology before?

If you are curious about reflexology but feel a little unsure about booking, Claire’s advice is simple:

Just give it a try, you may be surprised! You don’t need to understand how it works or ‘believe’ in it. Reflexology gives you a rare moment of stillness where someone else takes care of you, and this is what makes it special.”

Claire aims to make every appointment feel calm, comfortable and individual, whether you are coming for reflexology, support during pregnancy or the postnatal period, Indian Head Massage or simply some much-needed time for yourself.
