ChiroGlobal in aid of World Spine Day 2018

World Spine Day

Introduction to ChiroGlobal

My name is Tilda Hughes, I’m seventeen years old and the daughter of two chiropractors

ChiroGlobalChiropractic has always been a huge part of my life, ever since I was young – especially since both of my parents work within that field – but it has only really been in the last few years that I have come to appreciate the incredible effect that it can have, because chiropractic is not just about treating bodies, it’s about treating people. At the end of the day, the effect you have on a person’s body is often secondary to the way that you make them feel emotionally; this is something I learned when I found out more about chiropractic, and I came to realise that the reason people left the clinic feeling so good was because they felt looked after and safe. When you have a job, you often forget to appreciate the work that you’re doing which makes it loose purpose and feeling, but with chiropractic, because the main goal is helping people, it’s difficult not to love it. This is why I created the ChiroGlobal campaign: I wanted to showcase the immense joy and satisfaction that revolves around the worldwide chiropractic community and to prove to people that loving your job is the best way to make a difference because you then feel motivated give your all into each aspect of your work.

A one-minute video doesn’t seem like much but when it comes down to it, the smallest things can make a difference; in my opinion, as long as something is significant to the person watching it, then it has fulfilled its purpose.

I came up with the #chiroglobal campaign because I saw the impact that my mother had on people in our area and also how she wanted to try to reach people all around the globe. She has always inspired me to make a difference so I thought that I would do that through the passion that she shared with so many other chiropractors around the world. Not only does this campaign show the widespread influence of chiropractic, but it also proves that it comes from a place of love and joy. Please send your video to us at lucksyard.ig@gmail.com to join in on the fun. Tilda #spreadthenews #chiroglobal #worldwidechiropractic #chiro #chiropractic #surrey #england #lucksyardclinic

Here’s what they have been saying …

Here we have Lara Cawthra with her ChiroGlobal video. This is the last video that we have, however, if you or anyone that you know who would still like to join the campaign, then please do send in the videos as we would like to continue spreading the message of this campaign around the world. Lara's credentials are incredibly impressive and include a Bachelor of Science (University of Sydney) in 1994. Master of Chiropractic (Macquarie University) 1996, Master of Chiropractic Science (Paeds) - RMIT -2003, Fellow RCC Specialist Faculty Pregnancy and Paeds 2010. Chair RCC Specialist Faculty Pregnancy and Paeds. She has achieved this array of qualifications due to her want and need to learn. Chiropractic is one such environment where learning is a huge part of your daily life, and there are so many different areas that you can familiarise and integrate yourself into, which in the end will only help you refine and develop your own style of treatment. The individuality within this profession is incredible and can give practitioners the ability to hone in on their own individual interests and passions and yet also experience a wide array of other treatment methods and specialities. Lara is a great example of someone who is making use of the environment and resources around her, in order to become the best chiropractor she can be. Thank you all for giving us the opportunity to create the amazing ChiroGlobal campaign this year in aid of World Spine Day 2918. •Tilda and Tone

All the way from Brazil, we finally have Marco Lannuzzi! Marco’s story is truly inspirational as it shows that you must have the stamina and passion to follow you dreams: He has had plenty of hurdles to jump over and yet he kept going because he knew that chiropractic was his calling. After many years and across two different continents, he finally achieved his goal, and might I say that he has gone on to do incredible things. He is proof that you can do anything with your life as long as you have the drive and passion to keep on going. This story really proves that chiropractic is an amazing profession as even before entering it, people know that they will be willing to make sacrifices and work hard to enter the community as in the end, they know how many people they will be able to help, and how fulfilling their job will be. ChiroGlobal- Martin Rosen

The man, the myth, the legend: Here we have Dr Martin Rosen with his ChiroGlobal message. To hear so much passion from someone who has been in the same profession for over 30 years is truly inspiring, and also proves my point that chiropractic has so much variation and excitement within it that it would be very difficult to get bored as you are constantly learning new things and treating new people. Martin's video covers so many different points, so to prove how diverse chiropractic is, I thought that I should list each of the individual points that he made. - It gives you a purpose (that is beyond you) - You can touch so many different people and change their lives in a positive way. - You recieve so many reasons to stay positive and enthusiastic about your job everyday (which few other people can experience) - You can witness the healing progression through 3 generations. - You can help people to heal and maintain their life-style throughout their life. -You will experience challenges that help growth within your proffession. - The chiropractic philosophy provides a strong foundation upon which to grow a positive and stable family. - It provides enjoyment and happiness. - It allows you to live a rich and fulfilling life. Martin spreads his amazing message and philosophy across the globe through his teaching and he has inspired many people both within and outside of the chiropratic community, so it is a great honour to have him take part in our campaign. A lovely #chiroglobal video from Catherine Quinn, the President of the BCA. In this video she has mentioned numerous reasons that I have already spoken about in detail on previous videos, so instead I will talk about the overall message that she is conveying here. This message is that chiropractic is a community that helps: they help their patients get better; the help other chiropractors develop and refine their skills; they even help people outside of the community by educating them on ways to protect and take care of their bodies. The very foundation of chiropractic is based off of making others feel healthier and better within themselves. This is why Chiropractors are so happy in their jobs- everyday they get the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped someone along on their health journey, but also that they have fulfilled their role as a chiropractor. Here is Steve Williams from South Hampton, UK, with his #ChiroGlobal video. As Steve said, chiropractic can have an incredible impact on a persons life and future by relieving them of ailments which could hold them back from achieving their true potential. I think that one of the beautiful things about chiropractic is that the patient does not necessarily need to express their pain/ discomfort with words as often the body speaks for itself and through some testing, a chiropractor can uncover the true cause of the ailment. This example is especially prevalent in babies as they are unable to annunciate their pain using words, yet they can still benefit a lot from chiropractic care. That is why it is such an amazing profession; chiropractors speak not only to their patients, but also to the patients body. #chiroglobal #chiroglobalcampaign #lucksyard #uk #chiro #chiropractic #chiropractor #makeyourspinesmile

With her #chiroglobal video, we have Beth Hunter who works at Cromwell Chiropractic in Central Otago, New Zealand. What she said about her daughter really resonated with me as I was once in a similar situation as both my parents are chiropractors. Even a 3 year old can gather that chiropractic is about ‘fixing’ people, and that is the great thing about it: You don’t need all of the scientific know how to understand that something is working, or that you feel better. On one hand, chiropractic can be about educating people about their own bodies, but on a simpler level, chiropractic is helping people fix their bodies. #chiroglobalcampaign #makeyourspinesmile #chiro #chiropractic #chiropractor #lucksyard #newzealand

Here is Chris Chippendale from South East England with his #ChiroGlobal video. As Chris said, chiropractic is all about opening doors, and whether those are new doors or doors that people have had shut for a while, chiropractic gives patients the opportunity to experience/ re experience new things. Chiropractic is all about rehabilitation and helping people return to or get to their best health; by doing this, people are then exposed to things that they were unable to to before. I have heard countless stories people coming back to their chiropractor and telling them about all of the things that they can now do now that they’re better. I know that from personal and external experience that chiropractic gives people the ability to experience things that they could only dream of, and that is why I, and many others, think that it is an amazing profession to be a part of on some way. Next up for our #ChiroGlobal campaign is Cecilia von Hofsten who works in Italy. One thing that my mum has always told me is that she never stopped learning after university, and I’m glad that Cecilia talked about this in her video because it’s one thing that keeps chiropractic so interesting. Whether it’s a new method of treatment, or a scientific study that has come out, there are always new things to learn and find out about, and as the knowledge we have about the human body is always changing, so is chiropractic. There is a real dynamic element to this profession because there are so many ways to go about treating someone, and you just have to find your own style, but you can only find that through constant learning; and that is what makes chiropractic so unique and different. Here we have Deidre Edwards from the UK with her #chiroglobal video. Pride is something that Deidre mentions, and I think that it is a huge part of chiropractic, and why people are so happy within this profession. In any job, you should feel proud of the work you do, and chiropractic is one of many professions where you can come home everyday and say “I did something good today” or “I helped someone” or even “I changed someone’s life today”. These little (or sometimes very large) wins are the reason we continue on with our passion; as @bruce.whittingham said in his video, you don’t go into chiropractic for the money-instead you should do it for the gratification and a proud feeling you get from helping people, because I think that certainly makes it worth it. #chiroglobalcampaign #chiro #makeyourspinesmile #lucksyardclinic #UK #chiropractor #chiropractic

This is Sue Webber -who works in Sweden- with her #chiroglobal video. Listening to all of the amazing things that Sue has done and all of the paths that she has followed within the field of chiropractic has shown me yet another reason why chiropractic is so diverse. I’ve said again and again how it is more than just muscles and joints, and this video proves that it is also about educating. Through their work, chiropractors are able to educate not only other chiropractors and health professionals, but also their patients; they can teach them about their bodies: how they work, what they need, how they recover. The job isn’t just about application of knowledge, which is the case for many other professions, but in chiropractic, educating others about the work you do is as important as the actual treatments. Sharing the knowledge that they have about the body and giving that to others means that those people have the best chance at taking care of themselves- chiropractic goes far beyond the bench and requires the cooperation of the patient in order to heal efficiently, so teaching them how to do that is so incredibly important. One thing that I don’t think I have talked about up to this point( yet it is one of the most amazing parts about chiropractic) is how happy people feel after receiving it. It’s is incredible to hear about her story and the path that she has been on to get to where she is. The fact that she reads xrays and MRI/CT scans from as close as St Paul, and as far away as places such as Europe, and beyond is incredible and is a perfect example of why I set up #chiroglobal in the first place: she reaches and helps people from all over the world. It’s not easy to do this and achieving this kind of an influence takes lots of time, but if you really want to make a difference, then it’s I worth the effort because you are then able “to help more and more people” Her website is (secondsightradiology.com) if you want to check out her work or get in touch. I think that some people don’t realise how much you need to know about the body to be a chiropractor; it’s not only the bones, muscles and joints, but you have to be able to assess and figure out the cause of a certain symptom or pain. There are many years of learning and training involved so that they can effectively diagnose and treat a huge variety of ailments, so it’s no mean feat to be a chiropractor- there is much more to it than meets the eye. #chiroglobalcampaign #chiro #makeyourspinesmile #chiropractic #chiropractor

This is Adam Sayers who works at his practice -Pure Chiropractic- in Johannesburg, South Africa. “The body’s innate ability is immense”. This quote from Adam is something that I feel is very important in chiropractic because there are two sides to every coin; chiropractors can do all they can but without cooperation from the patient, recovery will often take much longer. This is one way that chiropractic spreads far beyond just muscles and joints: if supported by a healthy life style and good decisions made for the body, the effects of treatments can be multiplied. Often times people need motivation to be healthier and chiropractic can give them that push to be their own best self. We now have a website www.chiroglobal.org where we upload all of the videos into one place so please do check it out. #chiroglobal #chiropractor #chiropractic #chiro #worldspineday #makeyourspinesmile #chiroglobalcampaign

Having a wonderful team is also something that she mentioned and I think that this is one of the definite upsides of working in a clinic; everyday you are surrounded by people who are all passionate about the same thing, and their only goal is to help people, and this can be a really positive and nice environment to be in whilst working. We will be uploading chiroglobal videos more regularly now in the run up to #worldspineday so please do look forward to that in the next few weeks. This is the lovely Anna Haverow from the UK with her #chiroglobal video. She is so true in saying that it is incredible how much chiropractors can achieve with just their hands and knowledge. Having a wonderful team is also something that she mentioned and I think that this is one of the definite upsides of working in a clinic; everyday you are surrounded by people who are all passionate about the same thing, and their only goal is to help people, and this can be a really positive and nice environment to be in whilst working.

“I love what I do and I do what I love”. That is such a beautiful and powerful sentiment to end on for this #chiroglobal video, sent in to us by Sachio Okage who works at Cafe of Life in Tokyo Japan 🇯🇵 He talks about being able to touch people not just physically but also mentally and spiritually, and this truly is one of the incredible parts of chiropractic; it is not just bound down to the physical body but it goes beyond that into both the mind and the soul and makes you feel better in many aspects of yourself. Chiropractic is a multifaceted profession with many dimensions and layers and that is why it is so amazing. #loveyourspine #chiroglobalcampaign #tokyo #japan #chiro #chiropractic #chiropractor

Here is a really positive #chiroglobal to start the weekend with! This is Simone Di Muzio from Italy: he graduated this year from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in England. He has just started working as an associate with Dr Baiju Khanchandani in San Bendetto, Italy. It is so incredible to see that even having just started working, he is already loving every second of his job, and as he said, this is due to the positivity he receives on a daily basis through his work. There is joy to be found in every job, and chiropractic is no different. Spreading and receiving joy and happiness is the best kind of job, and chiropractors get to do this everyday! Here we have the lovely Shaana van Aardenne with her #ChiroGlobal video. Shaana works in the family chiropractic centre in Bradford-on-Avon Wiltshire. The point she made about being able to help people of all ages and then even treat them as they progress through their lives is a very important part of chiropractic; there is a trust that develops between chiropractors and patients over time which is very unique and not many people can say that they achieve this bond, at least not in the same way chiropractors can. Today’s #chiroglobal video from Timo Schmidt in Germany. Variety is something that he touches on in the video and it is so true as there is so much variability within chiropractic; whether it be with the individual patients that you see or the broad range of areas that the profession covers. It truly is a unique and incredible job that can help a huge variety of people and ailments. There is never a dull day in chiropractic! #chiroglobalcampaign #lucksyard #germany #chiro #chiropractic #chiropractor

VITALITY: that is the key word of this #chiroglobal video by @arifsoomro He works at Cliffs Chiropractic clinic in Southend-on-Sea, UK and he was chiropractor of the year 2015! I love that we can get a different message and theme out of each #chiroglobal video as it shows the diversity within passion and how people can find multiple ways to love the same thing. It’s so powerful to see people speak about why they live their job and this is exactly why the #chiroglobalcampaign was created.
