The Study Code, a workshop to make revision easier and less stressful

At Luck’s Yard we work with many students from all ages on a daily basis.

We see much more stress and tension in teenagers around important exam years and revision times and have therefore created two standalone workshops on how to reduce stress during this time.  We also go out to schools to work with students on site.

The Study Code is a workshop for students who are doing their GCSE, A-level or university exams.  We have devised a formula to help all students make the best use of their revision period and during their exams.

  • We work on strategies for studying, and how you can  create life-long learning and a more in depth knowledge about a subject.
  • We work on how you can develop a talent in an area, and the meaning of failing.
  • Tone will discuss different approaches to study and also different styles of learning so you can find out what works best for you.
  • Traditionally,  academic teaching expects everyone to learn in the same way, and we know that many students do not benefit from this ‘one size fits all’ approach.
  • Finding your way of learning as well as your dedication for life-long study, is essential to make the most out of these years, and will help to reduce stress, increase motivation and ensure you attain successful outcomes.

Tone is inspired by Martin Farnstrom a teacher from Sweden who says that “learning without strategies is like looking for a treasure without a map”.

Tone says: “I was never an A level student, and I had to work three times as hard as my friends, using my photographic memory, and this really helped me as it made me develop learning strategies that are still useful for me 24 years after graduating from University”.

To book your place you need to call our Reception staff and let us know how many students would like to come to the workshop.

We are doing this in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and will ask for a donation on the door.

This is a presentation for the teens, but if you wish to organise one for the parents or at your school, do contact Tone for more information.

We look forward to seeing you there.
