Two Guildford charities have got together to carry out a study into the effectiveness of acupuncture for pain relief following surgery.
The OG Cancer Project and the Fountain Centre are looking into pain relief for patients following oesophagogastric surgery at the RSCH.
Chairman David Chuter of the OG Cancer Project said ‘…….the surgery our patients go through is quite invasive. They go through the side – the ribs and shoulder – and we get a lot of problems with people getting aches…….it (acupuncture) is an alternative therapy to try to ease the pain’.
There are various fundraising activities take place locally including a free fund day on Saturday 21 June in the Castle grounds, Guildford and on July 15 a fundraising Golf day at the Old Thorns golf course in Liphook.
Here at Luck’s Yard Clinic we have our own team of acupuncturists who would be happy to answer any of your questions regarding pain relief: click on this link to find out more or contact our Reception desk on 01483 527 945 for more information.
