Comprehensive support protocol for overcoming fertility problems and Assisted Conception treatment
Preparation: - Frances advises on a 3-month pre-conception plan or a consultation 4-6 weeks prior to starting IVF treatment.
Initial consultation: - Primarily to decide on a specific programme for you. This will involve a detailed medical and lifestyle questionnaire focusing on a complete gynaecological history.
Some of the treatments offered are: -
Reflexology
This is a method of activating the healing powers of the body through the manipulation of the feet. It is an extremely effective way of balancing the body particularly the endocrine (hormone) system. The majority of infertility problems lie in a hormonal imbalance and Reflexology can assist in overcoming this. It can also help with structural problems and in cases of unexplained fertility, with the key emphasis on relaxation. In cases where there is an underlying emotional problem, I may use Cranio Sacral Reflexology.
There is also a relatively new area of infertility that is currently being investigated and researched that may be of interest to those who have experienced a number of failed IVF cycles that Reflexology may play a significant role in assisting. This area is known as Reproductive Immunology and is particularly concerned with antibodies, which can be balanced using Reflexology.
Franes recommends you start Reflexology treatments 4-6 weeks prior to embarking on an IVF programme or trying naturally.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
I offer this as a detoxifying treatment prior to conception, but is also useful generally for swellings and during pregnancy, particularly those suffering from restless leg syndrome.
This is a very gentle and repetitive massage that helps to improve the functioning of the lymphatic system and assist in detoxifying the body which is particularly important where there are immune issues involved. This is beneficial for those with low immunity and post viral problems and for those who have had a number of failed IVF cycles. It is therefore recommended prior to embarking on conception or in between IVF cycles.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the Science and Art of using natural fragrances for their therapeutic and healing properties. It is therefore particularly beneficial for those suffering from stress and will help promote equilibrium of any hormonal imbalance issues, thus normalising glandular function. It will also enhance the Reproductive and Immune systems, thus assisting with an underlying antibody problem.
Nutritional Therapy
Nutrition is also important when preparing for a baby, and this will be discussed in you initial consultation and can benefit anyone having fertility problems. Obviously those with over or under weight problems would benefit greatly from this advice, but also those people having insulin resistance problems in relation to fertility may find this area beneficial, particularly those suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome. Nutritional advice will also help to back up immunological disorders related to infertility and Lymphatic Drainage treatments may be recommended alongside this.
Frances is a practising Foresight practitioner, Foresight being the Nutrition Charity for conception.
Being an holistic approach, these therapies are aimed at treating both the physical and emotional dimensions of the individual. After an initial consultation, each person will have a tailor made programme ideally suited to their personal requirements. Some of the infertility problems these treatments can help are:
Natural products
These products are offered in support of the treatments such as Aromatherapy oil blends and creams for Promoting fertility and relaxation, preventing stretch marks, childbirth and perineal massage.
Maternity Reflexology
Maternity Reflexology is a safe and beneficial treatment throughout pregnancy from conception to birth. It has never been shown to have caused the body to do something it does not want to do. It helps the body to seek out its own equilibrium and can therefore help in cases of threatened miscarriage.
It can help with problems arising through pregnancy such as nausea, heartburn, lower backache and sciatica, headaches, constipation, fluid retention, haemorrhoids, high blood pressure and pubis symphysis dysfunction.
Current research has shown Reflexology to be very beneficial throughout pregnancy, detoxifying the body and creating physical well being. This transmits to the baby who is encouraged to develop into a calm and healthy individual with a strong immune system. It also assists in reducing the amount of drugs used and can DRAMATICALLY REDUCE THE NUMBER OF HOURS IN LABOUR. It can also help to correct a breech presentation and to induce or advance labour. Manual Lymphatic Drainage may be used in conjunction with this to help with fluid retention.
It can also assist post natally to help return all the organs to their normal positions and with lactation problems. Other conditions it can help with are exhaustion, post natal depression, mastitis, constipation, haemorrhoids and recovery from a caesarean.
