All too often fitness programmes focus on aesthetics over function. Our approach to training is one that promotes optimal human function, but also happens to produce a great physique!
We see our role primarily as motivator and educator to our clients. We strive to build a base level of physical flexibility, core stability, strength and cardiovascular fitness, whilst working with your individual needs and towards you unique goals.
We act as the catalyst, helping you to reach, exceed and revisit your personal goals through the use of initial - and ongoing - motivation and assessment techniques. This is coupled with a functional exercise programme, based on sound principles of biomechanics and an understanding of how the body performs.
Exercises performed in the gym should have a high carry-over to actions performed outside the gym. This belief informs our whole approach to fitness training and you are therefore likely to find our methods refreshingly different to traditional and repetitive, gym-based exercise programmes and therefore more enjoyable.
Our ultimate goal is to improve the relationship between your nervous and muscular systems and, as a result, your functional abilities. This will result in improved performance in your work, sport and everyday life and reduced risk of chronic pain (typically in the back) and other injury.

Session charges
Sessions with Vanessa Lanham are charged by the hour. The current charge is £45 per hour.
The initial assessment process includes an hour of contact time to take the appropriate measurements and gather information. This is then followed by time spent analysing the information and designing an appropriate programme for each client. For this reason, the initial session is charged as a double, ie. £90.
Sessions are available in blocks of 10 at a discounted rate of £400, and may be appropriate for clients wishing to engage in a long-term coaching relationship.

If you decide not to continue one-to-one coaching on a regular basis, we strongly recommend that you book in for regular reviews every 4 – 6 weeks where Vanessa will have the chance to review your progress, adapt your programme and check your technique.
