Every Christmas Luck’s Yard Clinic in Milford chooses a local charity to support for the festive season.

Our very generous patients and staff collect items for our chosen charity to help make someone’s Christmas a little more festive and fun.

This year we are supporting St Mark’s Food Bank. St Mark’s Church in Franklyn Road, Godalming provides emergency food parcels for individuals and families who are in crisis for a period of 3 to five days. The Food Bank runs all the year round and accepts donations of non-perishable foods and household goods but at this time of year they welcome Christmas food donations.

Luck’s Yard has always focused on supporting the local community in many different ways and we are using our clinic in Milford as a collection point so we can make a delivery to St Mark’s by Tuesday December 13th. The donations can be handed out to families in need in time for Christmas.

Last year Tone’s dad, Jens came over from Sweden to play Father Christmas to the Womens’ Refuge in Guildford (pictured), and this year we want him to do the same for our local food bank.

About St Mark’s Church Food Bank

Access to the Food Bank is normally through referrals from professional agencies, e.g. by health professionals, schools, local police and community/voluntary organisations.

This service is supported by other local churches, Godalming CAB, Waverley Borough Council and Waitrose in Godalming.

They would love donations of festive food items such as mince pies, chocolates, tins of ham, Christmas puddings, boxes of chocolates or shortbread – in fact anything ‘Christmassy’ related but please ensure goods have a long ‘sell by’ or ‘Use By’ date.

They are also desperate for things like tinned meats, UHT milk and powdered milk.

Here is a list from their website of other useful items they need donated:

  • Savoury crackers
  • Hot dogs
  • Ham/Spam/Luncheon meat (tins)
  • Corned beef
  • UHT Milk (500ml cartons)
  • Deodrants
  • Roll Ons
  • Sprays
  • Bleach
  • Toilet Cleaner
  • Floor cleaner/washing powder/tabs etc
