Tone featured in YourFitness magazine October 2014 with an article entitled ‘Three easy ways to improve your stance’.

Tone says: Good posture contributes to a range of health benefits as well as boosting mood.

Her 3 top tips are:

  1. When standing, keep your shoulders back and not slouching.  Your body weight should feel evenly balanced between both feet rather than standing with the weight on one foot.
  2. Sitting at the computer in a hunched position with shoulders slumped forward and back curved, can continue when you stand up.  Make sure you stretch the pectoral muscles of the chest and the strengthen the muscles in the upper back to keep your shoulder blades back.
  3. Try to keep your weight in check as overweight people tend to ‘swing back’ when the lower spine curves inward causing the bottom to be thrust backward.  Strengthening the core muscles can help to support the posture.
